Description
This was the first sunrise after the end of the 1998 New England Ice Storm. I traveled around Mt. Washington Valley the day before looking for where I would start shooting tomorrow. The accumulation of ice on the trees was very dependent on elevation. In the North Conway area there was not much accumulation, but just 500 feet higher in Glen and Jackson, NH. the trees were heavily coated. When I went out for sunrise that morning the valley floor was in the fog, but as I ascended Glen Ledge Road I quickly got above the fog. This image of the Sunrise over Mt. Kearsarge in the White Mountain National Forest of New Hampshire was the beginning of 4 great days of Photography.
